# Currencies and Exchange Rates: Spend in USD, GBP, EUR or CAD
> How ParleHub records AI spend in the currency your provider bills you in, caps projects in a currency you choose, and reports in another — and how monthly exchange rates are applied.
ParleHub can record, cap and report AI spend in **US dollars (USD), Canadian dollars (CAD), euros (EUR) or pounds sterling (GBP)**. If your provider bills you in pounds, you budget a project in pounds and you report to a client in euros, each of those is its own setting — and every money figure on screen says which currency it is in.
If your whole organization works in US dollars, nothing changes for you. Every setting below defaults to USD.
## Three currencies, three jobs

The three are independent. A UK firm can pay Azure in GBP, cap a project in GBP, and show that project's spend in EUR for a French client — and neither the caps nor the report ever mix the two.
Only **Org Admins** can set or change any of the three. Project Admins and members can see them, read-only.
## Reporting currency
### The organization default
Go to **Organization Settings → Budgets & alerts** and find the **Reporting currency** card.
Pick one from the **Reporting currency** list. Only currencies ParleHub has published exchange rates for are offered.
Select **Save changes**. The **Usage** report, its CSV export and every project that follows the default now read in that currency.
**If nobody has set it, the default is inherited**, and the card says so: *"Nobody has set this explicitly — it currently reads **GBP**…"* followed by the reason. The rule is:
* If every active provider credential in your organization has the **same** quote currency, that currency is used.
* Otherwise — no credentials yet, or credentials in more than one currency — it is **USD**.
An inherited value can change with no action from you: add a second provider credential in another currency and your reports switch to USD. Save a choice on the card to pin it.
The inherited value looks at the quote currency on your provider **credentials**, not at individual Azure AI Foundry deployments. If your Foundry deployments are quoted in GBP and you want reports in GBP, set the reporting currency explicitly.
### A project override
A project can report in a different currency from the rest of the organization.
Under **Total spend**, find the **Reporting currency** list.
The change saves as soon as you select it. The line underneath reads *"Overrides your organization's default for this project only."*
This clears the override, so the project follows the organization default again — including if that default changes later. Choosing the same currency as a default your organization has explicitly saved clears the override too.
Project Admins and members see the result as a line of text — for example *"Reporting currency: EUR (following your organization's default)"* — with no control to change it.
Changing a reporting currency changes how figures are **shown**, never what was recorded. The same project reports the same underlying spend before and after a switch.
## How conversion works
* **Exchange rates are monthly.** ParleHub publishes one rate per currency for each calendar month.
* **Each message is converted once, at the rate for the month it was sent.** October's usage is converted at October's rate and stays that way. A later rate change never restates a figure you have already reported.
* **A total is a sum of per-month conversions.** When a report or a cap spans several months, each month's usage is converted at that month's rate and the results are added together — not one conversion of a grand total.
* **Budget checks and screens use the same arithmetic**, so the figure that blocks a message is the figure you see on the project's **Budget** tab.
* **Nothing is converted when it does not need to be.** A figure shown in the currency it was recorded in is exactly the amount as charged, with no rate applied.
* **Usage from before ParleHub published rates for a currency** is converted at the earliest rate ParleHub holds for that currency. Those amounts are an approximation rather than that month's rate, and the assistant says so when it quotes them.
## Where you will see the currency
Every money figure states its currency. A figure in another currency than the one beside it carries its three-letter code, for example `$12.34 USD spent · limit £5,000.00 monthly`.

## "Cost unavailable" is not "Not priced"
Two labels can appear where you would expect a cost. They mean different things, and neither is ever shown as zero.

| **Not priced** | The usage ran on **provisioned** Azure capacity, which is billed as a flat commitment rather than per token. There is no per-token cost to show; you have already paid for the capacity on your Azure bill. |
| **Cost unavailable** | The usage **was** charged per token, but ParleHub could not state its cost — typically because an exchange rate was missing. This is a ParleHub issue, not a problem with your account or your usage, and ParleHub is alerted to it. Figures beside it are understated by whatever that usage cost. |
In both cases the tokens are still counted, and a note under the figures says how many were excluded.
## What stays in US dollars
These are always USD, whatever your reporting currency is. Where they appear next to figures in another currency they carry the `USD` code so they cannot be mistaken for your own currency.
* **ParleHub Managed models** — ParleHub prices them in USD and charges your credit wallet in USD. Their usage still appears in the **Usage** report alongside everything else, shown in your reporting currency.
* **The prepaid credit wallet** and credit purchases.
* **Your ParleHub subscription**, billed in USD.
* **Personal budgets** — for example *"Personal budget of \$100.00 USD for this period would be exceeded."*
* **The organization's monthly spend cap** — the field is labelled **Cap (USD / month)**.
* **The project consumption cap for platform services**, on the project's **Budget** tab — **Cap (USD / month)**.
## If an exchange rate is missing
Exchange rates are maintained by ParleHub. If one is missing, that is ParleHub's fault and never something wrong with your account, and the message says so.
